The starter Mr Philip Alford informed the stipendiary stewards after the conclusion of the 5th race that horse no 3 BAASHAGAR drawn 9 had not jumped from his allotted stall and since horse no 7 PARUSHARM drawn 2 had been withdrawn on veterinary grounds the field was reduced to 11 and he had given instructions that stall no 2 be kept closed and the other horses loaded as per their stall numbers. He further stated that 10 out of 11 horses had been loaded BAASHAGAR was the last horse to be loaded as was his practice he now moved to take his position in front of the starting gates to give the start. BAASHAGAR was fractious and playing in the spur of the moment the handlers pushed him into stall no 2 without him being aware of the move as he was unsighted. It was when the horses jumped out of the gates that the starter saw a horse jumped out of the stall no 2 which should have been vacant. He observed that the horse was BAASHAGAR in stall no 2 and questioned his handlers who were loading the horses and they confirmed that the horse was fractious and playing and as last resort they managed to put him in stall no 2. This was done without the starters knowledge due to they not knowing any better for want of knowledge. However the starter took fully responsibility for the incidents despite the facts he was unsighted for what was happening behind the gates with just one horse to load. The stipendiary stewards noted his explanations and cautioned him to be more diligent and careful in future.
